Work as a Demeaning Necessity

lol Greeks were really on something
all work is an act of creating and comes from the same source: … the capacity to see, to connect and to make what had not been seen, connected and made before Ayne Rand, Atlas Shrugged
Human beings were to become like the gods by withdrawing from active life and devoting themselves to contemplation Plato, Phaedo
Work, then, was a barrier to the highest kind of life.
This reminds me of how I view work sometimes. A means to an end. Let me put my least effort to get by. There is no dignity here, and no love for work nor others around us.

Work as a Mark of Human Dignity

We are given specific work to do because we are made in God’s image
We share in doing the things God has done in creation
By recognizing and understanding my own work, it will bring out its goodness and work. I become a better worker. I feel more fulfilled and resilient.

The Material World Matters

every Christian should be able to identify, with conviction and satisfaction, the ways in which his or her work participates with God in his creativity and cultivation.
This is definitely something I struggle to identify. Or I do happen to identify it, but I don’t obey. I can see the ways that God might want me to love my coworkers, but it’s so easy to be selfish, cold, and full of pride.
Something I’ve been thinking about recently is what is God’s vision for my life? My work? Am I going to be working in Observability at Workday for the next five years? Where does God want me to be.
I don’t want my time wasted, but I’d like this sentiment to be transform to “I want to hear and obey God’s call in my life
